Two new tenants added at The Interlock

ATLANTA, Ga. – Commercial real estate development firm S.J. Collins Enterprises has added two new tenants to the lineup at The Interlock, a $450 million mixed-use development in emerging West Midtown.

Velvet Taco and Cathy’s: Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches will join the dynamic retail mix at Atlanta’s newest community. Velvet Taco, a one-of-a-kind taco concept serving premium food in a unique and funky fast-casual setting, will occupy a 2,666-square-foot space, and Cathy’s: Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches, a new-to-market gourmet ice cream sandwich shop, will take approximately 1,000 square feet.

“I fell in love with Atlanta while I was attending Spelman College,” said Catheryn Greene, owner of Cathy’s: Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches. “I selected The Interlock as our first Atlanta location because the development is revolutionizing the West Midtown area and bringing unique concepts collectively in one space. Our gourmet ice cream sandwiches and store atmosphere bring their own distinctiveness, and the development was right on target with the atmosphere of our store.”

The first Cathy’s: Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches opened in Cleveland, Ohio in 2018. In that short time, the sandwiches have become a city staple. Greene developed all seven made-from-scratch cookie recipes that can be paired with more than 15 ice cream flavors and tons of toppings.

Construction on The Interlock began in December 2018, and sixty-five percent of the planned office and retail space is now leased. Crews recently completed the slab for the lower-level Howell Mill retail foundation and are now forming and pouring the floor for the second level of retail on 14th Street. Construction crews have also begun to form the hotel podium on 14th Street.

“These retailers are an excellent addition to our leasing roster,” said Justin Latone, senior vice president of leasing for S.J. Collins Enterprises. “We are currently in other negotiations on more than 40,000 square feet of retail space, and we look forward to announcing more on that in the next few months.”

The Interlock will offer a versatile mix with 200,000 square feet of creative office space, 100,000 square feet for retail and restaurant space, 350 apartment units, 70 single-family homes and a 161-key Marriott Tribute Portfolio boutique hotel.

WeWork, which will debut this Atlanta location in the fall 2020, is also joining the lineup at The Interlock. Dubbed WeWork Interlock, the office space will occupy three floors across 118,000 square feet to accommodate more than 1,800 desks for its members.

Other occupants previously announced include Slater Hospitality, which will design an ultimate rooftop experience, St. Germain French Bakery and Georgia Technology Ventures, which will operate a 50,000-square-foot incubator space with a mission of promoting and growing tech startups in the southeast.

The development’s other amenity-rich elements include a rooftop with a modern private pool club and lounge with a retractable roof. An upscale 12,000-square-foot two-story restaurant and outdoor bar with covered patio will complete the space. Visitors will enjoy an infinity-edge pool that drops off into the city skyline with stunning views.

The Interlock is slated to open in fall 2020.v
